Jim Dixon made his first grade debut for University of NSW in 1979 after moving to Sydney from his home town of Goulburn.

He took 397 first grade wickets at an average of 25.10 and his best figures were 5 for 44. He took 5 wickets in an innings on 11 occasions.

In a grade career with UNSW spanning from 1979 to the 2006/07 season Jim played 402 games taking 561 wickets at 22.98 and scored 7,724 runs at 23.06 including 5 centuries and 37 half centuries.

Bill Edrich DFC (1916 – 1986) was a first-class cricketer who played for Middlesex, Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), Norfolk and England.

His three brothers, Brian, Eric, and Geoff, and also his cousin, John, all played first-class cricket. Locally in Norfolk the Edriches were able to raise a full team of eleven. In 1938 a team composed entirely of Edriches beat Norfolk in a one-day match.

GRASSROOTS CRICKET: PROFILES OF CHAMPIONS: LUNDI MBANE

Today we feature the last of the "famous five" Over 40s Cricket World Cup champions and their roads to success and glory. Here is Lundi Mbane's story in his own words...

"That's me (I was raised in Mdantsane. When I was nine years old, I began playing street cricket with the older guy. At my school (Zanokukhanya P School), a student who was older than me used to play cricket. He told the teacher, who was also a cricket coach, that I could play the game. His teacher then took me to Baker's Mini Cricket. After that, he also took me to play cricket for Willows Cricket Club, which intrigues me. I have participated in games for all age groups within the Border, including Border Academy, Border B and Border A, Warriors, and SA invitation teams against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Recently, We won the World Cup with Vets over 40)".

We hope that his and all the other stories inspire and ignite the cricketing spark. Howzattt Cricket along with many other wonderful grassroots organisations and clubs are working to find, nurture and develop future grassroots stars.

Manly Warringah District Cricket Club’s Bertie Foreman and Gordon District Cricket Club’s Tym Crawford have been named co-recipients of the O’Reilly Medal, each receiving 19 votes at the end of the men’s McDonald’s NSW Premier Cricket first grade preliminary season.

Dating back to 1967-68, the O’Reilly Medal has been awarded to the men’s First Grade Player/s of the Year and stands as the most prestigious individual accolade in NSW Premier Cricket.

Umpires award votes during every preliminary-round match during the season on a 3-2-1 basis.

Wade Seccombe's time as coach of Queensland and Brisbane Heat has come to an abrupt end

BBL title-winning coach Wade Seccombe has stood down from his dual roles leading Brisbane Heat and Queensland’s men’s teams.

Seccombe was in charge as the Heat took the KFC BBL|13 title, the club’s first since 2012-13, but will not be in place to defend the crown following the shock news on Wednesday night.

Cricket Australia (CA) announced yesterday in consultation with the Australian Government on the treatment of women and girls in Afghanistan, that the T20 men's series between the two countries will not take place as scheduled in August 2024.

In the meantime, we present what the Afghanistan people are missing out on. Tooba, Shafiqa and Benafsha three women from the Afghan Women's Cricket Team, are currently in exile and last week were part of our T10 2024 Corporate Tournament in Sydney.
