As I said a few months ago this would happen sooner rather than later.

I have sympathy for England but more so for the counties that develop players and now seemingly lose them at the peak of their powers. If any county is negotiating contracts surely a future earnings clause needs to be activated to compensate 🤔

Welcome back Nic Bills

A huge day for the UTS North Sydney Bears as we welcome Nic Bills back to the club as our First Grade skipper!
Nic needs no introduction, being one of the most successful players in NSW Premier Cricket, with 490 First Grade wickets to his name. The first 172 of these were for the Bears over five seasons after receiving cap number 615 in 2009-10, including in our Limited Overs Premiership-winning side in 2012-13, and he was a shoe-in when we selected our Team of the Decade in 2020.
Since leaving the Bears in 2014, Nic has played for Manly, Mosman and Sydney, winning a Club Championship and First Grade Premierships in all three formats. His 409 wickets for all clubs in the 2010s was the highest tally of all players and earned Nic a coveted spot in the Sydney Cricket Association Team of the Decade.
We're thrilled to see Nic return home to the Bears and can't wait to see what our First-Grade side achieves under his leadership.

Christchurch, New Zealand - Veterans Cricket Australia O55's is set to make its debut as a National Age Category in Christchurch this November. Fourteen teams from Australia and two sides from New Zealand will compete across two divisions in what is expected to be an exciting and closely contested tournament.

The tournament will be hosted by the St Albans Cricket Club and will take place from November 22-28, with a scheduled rest day on November 25th to allow players and their partners to take in the many tourist attractions on offer in and around Christchurch. Many players are expected to bring their partners and stay an extra week to enjoy the local sights and sounds.

The tournament will be played on several grounds, including Rangiora, Willows, Burnside, and some of the private schools in and around Christchurch, before culminating in the final at the Famous Hagley Park Oval.

"We are delighted to bring the Veterans Cricket Australia O55's tournament to Christchurch for the first time," said Andrew Knight Chairman, O50’s Veterans Cricket Association. "We are confident that this event will be a great success and showcase the best Australian veteran’s cricket."

So I tried AI to tell me what are the parallels between life and cricket. Here's what it came up with: Cricket is a game of skill, strategy and patience. It is also a game of uncertainty, unpredictability and frustration. Life is like cricket in many ways. You never know what kind of pitch you will get, what kind of ball you will face, or what kind of umpire you will encounter. You have to adapt to the changing conditions, play according to your strengths and weaknesses, and hope for the best. Sometimes you hit a six, sometimes you get out for a duck. Sometimes you win the toss, sometimes you lose it. Sometimes you catch a brilliant catch, sometimes you drop a sitter. Sometimes you get a fair decision, sometimes you get a howler. The only thing that matters is how you handle the ups and downs, how you celebrate the victories and learn from the defeats, how you respect your opponents and enjoy the game. Cricket teaches us many lessons about life: teamwork, discipline, perseverance, sportsmanship and humility. Cricket is not just a sport; it is a way of life.

In taking 8 for 64 in India’s 2nd innings of the 3rd Test in India Nathan achieved:

• Player of the Match
• 479 Test Wickets (238 home; 241 away)
• the 2nd best figures ever for Australia in Tests against India behind his own 8 for 50 in Bengaluru during the 2017 tour.
• Become the only Australian spinner to take 8 wickets in a test innings twice.
• Become the leading wicket taker of all time in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy
• The most Test wickets in Asia by a player from outside the continent.
• Taken more five-wicket hauls against India than any other bowler.
