Fergus Fergusson - cherish every moment

Fergus Fergusson is a 20-year-old fast bowler who's become a mainstay of the First Grade side in his third year with UTS North Sydney. His cricketing journey has taken him from the backyard in in Dunadoo in the Central West of NSW to North Sydney Oval via Kings School, where he captained the 1st XI. A popular clubman and dedicated trainer, Fergus has already taken 71 wickets for the club including two in the 2023/24 PGs Grand Final where we won the competition, and might just be the best no. 11 bat in Sydney!

Women's Cricket Comes to the Gordon DCC - Part 2

For that first 1982-83 season the club was able to field three teams – two in First Grade and the other in Second Grade. The two First Grade teams finished fourth and fifth and the Second Grade a creditable second. Jo Fitzsimmons was the club’s first President but only remained in that position for the first season. From 1983 until around 1991 the strength and drive in the club were Marilyn Brown, Erica Sainsbury and Karen Price as President, Deputy President and Treasurer respectively.

North Sydney has won only one Fourth Grade Premiership in its history, in 1968-69, with victory over Balmain under the leadership of Barry Cusack. Here we reproduce the season write-up in the club’s Annual Report, which includes a report on a roller-coaster final.

In winning the initial Fourth Grade Premiership in the club's history and in bringing Premiership honours for the first time since our First Grade success in the 1931-32 season, the Fourth Grade team brought new life and enthusiasm to all players and supporters alike.

Women's Cricket Comes to the Gordon DCC - Part 1

In July 1982 two established teams from a local competition, Mirrabooka and Pymble, were approached by the Gordon DCC to combine and compete in the Sydney Women’s Cricket Association. While the Pymble club was a relative newcomer to the Sydney Women’s Grade Competition, Mirrabooka had been formed in 1958 by Wendy Relton, Norma Styles, Beau Aspinall and Sue Prell who became Gordon Women’s first Club Patron. Their aim was to offer something special to the members of the club, and the wider circle of women’s cricket, an aim that Gordon still upholds.
