ON THIS DAY - 18th February
Armidale Waratahs (The Tahs) | February 18, 2026

In 1978, DAVID TILBURY (#302) bowled out St Peters for just 103, bowling unchanged with the new ball and taking 9-52. They were his career best figures and unfortunately, no details are available for St Peters second innings where Tills undoubtedly got ten for the match. On the second day, MICHAEL CONNOLLY (#293) made 92 in what would be a breakout innings for him which took him past 400 runs for the season and a promotion to A grade.
Waratahs v St Peters - A-Res grade, 18th & 25th February 1978
St Peters 103 (David Tilbury 9-52) and 146 lost to Waratahs 215 (Michael Connolly 92)
In B grade, JOHN BAILLIE (#330) made his only Waratahs century, 104 not out v Uralla.
In 1989, DANIEL RYAN (#514) steered 1st grade to victory against the "old foe" Easts, with his first top grade century. Waratahs were 6-73 chasing Easts 156, when Phil Melville (#542) joined him but 91the pair took Waratahs to the points with a 91 run partnership. The tail the wagged long enough for RYan to complete his three figures.
