John Halligan sits on the Belmont District Cricket Club's Committee and has done an excellent job in his short time at Belmont. John has two boys who play for the club (Pat and Ned). John also took out the clubman of the year in the recent season and has been a fine helper for Belmont.

It turns out that it isn’t just in juniors where this phenomenon occurs and in the Central Lancashire League Ezra Moseley was that fast bowler. It was with great sadness when in February 2021 I heard Ezra had been knocked off his bike and killed, struck by an unlicenced 17 year old driver (in Barbados you must be at least 18 to obtain a licence).

Cricket NSW launches ‘Clubs Open for Business’ promotion 2024

After the success of last year’s initiative to inspire cricket clubs across NSW to be open for business early, Cricket NSW organised a promotion for clubs that were open for business in time to leverage the excitement of the T20 World Cup again this year.

Following the promotion thousands of participants have already registered for the 2024/25 Summer season, showing that there is already strong interest from the community to lock in their spot at a club for the season ahead.

The Hawkesbury Cricket Club honored Hugh McKay with a Life Membership in 2013.

Hugh is Hawkesbury Cricket Club first grade player number 29. He was an inaugural committee member when Hawkesbury entered the Sydney Grade Cricket competition in 1985–86 and still sits on the club's committee.

Hugh served as President of the Club in 2014–15, has been the club coach and grounds coordinator, and still plays for Hawkesbury Over 50s cricket team.

Corey Rocchiccioli is pushing to be Australia's next Test spinner having been the leading spin-bowler in Sheffield Shield cricket the past two seasons. It's not been a straight forward journey to become Western Australia's first-choice spinner though.

At 18, 'Roc' was playing 4th grade and after changing grade clubs, he was the 7th choice spinner at University CC. But through "being naive", a sheer love of cricket, curiosity and, an incredible work ethic, Rocchiccioli has been instrumental in Western Australia's back to back to back Sheffield Shield victories and is well and truly on the radar of the Aussie selectors.

I've been fortunate to have some amazing guests on The Cricket Mentoring Podcast. Corey Rocchiccioli isn't the biggest name we've had but this was the longest and most in depth and insightful chat we've ever had.

This podcast, broken into 2 episodes, is full of value and so many practical tips anyone can implement into their sport or life.

It's an inspiring story and one that has so much to still come. I hope you enjoy listening to/watching it as much as I did.

I am counting down what I believe are the five greatest Douglas Cup Finals. This match is the fifth on the list.

No.5 – 1930/31 – Northbourne v Ainslie – The match which went on forever!

The 1930/31 Final was held between Northbourne and Ainslie and started at Manuka Oval. Northbourne were the Minor Premiers by one point from Queanbeyan and Ainslie finished third after the home and away series. This Final was the first to be held at Manuka Oval, previous finals had been held Northbourne Oval and the Acton Sports Ground.
