This is massive news. So cool and congratulations and well done Queensland Premier Cricket and Seven Network

The KFC T20 Max competition will scale new heights as it makes a fresh broadcast home on the Seven Network this month.

For the first time since its inception in 2022, the KFC T20 Max competition will be streamed live and free on 7plus Sport, in a major boost for Queensland Premier Cricket.

Selected men’s and women’s matches will be broadcast through 7plus Sport across the competition which gets underway on Wednesday 20 August and continues through until Saturday 6 September.

The breakthrough agreement with Seven was welcomed by Pete Lock, Queensland Cricket’s General Manager – Commercial, Marketing & Corporate Affairs.

In 2020/21, Thomas Jagot was a joint winner of the O’Reilly Medal, sharing the award with Nick Stapleton of St George. He also received his second NSW Premier Cricket Merit Team cap. These were a fitting rewards for a remarkable and memorable season in which Tom racked up an even 1,000 First Grade runs.

The Club received notice on 23/7/2025 that Colin ‘Col’ Barr, former First grade allrounder from the flourishing 1950s era, sadly passed away this week at 94 years of age.

Colin Barr was a gifted, enthusiastic cricketer whose skills complemented those of the more illustrious players (Richie Benaud, Jack Treanor, Ron James, Wilf Ewens and Wally Cornock) in the Cumberland teams of the 1950s. His principal forte was accurate and determined right-handed medium paced bowling that skidded deceptively off the pitch, which he backed up with forceful, clean hitting lower-order batting and sharp fielding.

Harold (Harry) Watts enlisted in the 9th Machine Gun Company of the 3rd Division of the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) in March 1916 and eventually joined them in November 1916. He was a warehouse salesman and lived at Station House in Chatswood. Harry was only twenty when he enlisted and required the written permission of his parents which was duly given. He was a very promising young cricketer who played fourteen games in his first season with the club in 1914-15 as an eighteen year old. He scored 462 runs at an average of 42, with a top score of 76. Due to the number of players leaving for the war in 1915-16, he was promoted to First Grade and played thirteen games. He wasn’t as successful as the season before but did have a high score of 57.

Hands down one of the greatest test series of all time.

Putting loyalties aside, it's a fair result.

Two evenly matched teams going hard, each session meant something across all five tests.

The ebbs, the flows, the drama, the skill and desire.

White ball cricket has it's place but it doesn't have the jeopardy of test match cricket, it sits as the format of the game that is unrivalled.

The hippocampus is the part of the brain that stores memory, I can barely remember which franchise won what league in a certain year. I can however remember every great test series since I started watching cricket 30 years ago.

The reason is that Test Cricket makes you feel something.

It's called a 'Test' for a reason.

Well played India.

Simply EPIC.

A Tribute to Rod Evans by John Benaud 1999-2000

SCORCH; ONE OF THE VERY BEST

It was one of those typical cool, grey pre-season Panther practice days at Howell Oval, among the earliest days of the new Nepean club, and Rodney Evans stood out like a ray of sunshine. He arrived with his cobber from the Shires, Bruce Wilcock, who had "character" written all over him.

The St George DCC 2024-25 First XI

At the end of each season a panel comes together to judge the best achievements / milestones for the season. These may be individual, combined or even team performances. Below is the First XI for the 2024-25 season and as you will see there were some mighty fine performances that left us feeling quite proud as supporters and members of The Saints.

1. KSC T20 Premiership / Niko Century

With The Saints at 3-36 chasing an imposing total of 166 many thought the KSC T20 trophy was Fairfield’s until Blake Nikitaras played one of the greatest Premier Cricket T20 innings of all time

Tribute to Graham King by Michael Falk

My first game of grade cricket was at Killara Oval in 1969 in 3rd Grade. I was filling in just before Christmas as, I think, some players had gone away on holidays. The captain of the side that day was Graham, or should I say, Mr King. I was a callow youth of 15 at the time, and quite terrified.

However, there was no need to be nervous as we were in good hands with Graham and his long time friend and great player, Bob Lowing, keeping everything together.

The Historic 1867 Aboriginal Cricket Match

The Parramatta (Cumberland) Club participated in a celebrated and historic match on 9th – 11th April 1867 at their Parramatta home-ground against the famous Aboriginal Team, that was to become in 1868, the first Australian cricket team to ever tour England.

The Aboriginal Team was coached and organised by Tom Wills and Charles Lawrence

At this point in his playing career with the Parramatta District Cricket Club Michael Sullivan stands supreme as leader of the First grade bowling attack, he has played a significant role in the club’s 2022/23 and 2024/25 Belvidere Cup Premiership wins. Over the past three seasons he has matured into an opening bowler of real quality, amongst the best in the competition, his captain’s ‘go to man’ and his wicket haul over that period has been a highly productive 127 wickets @ 19.72.

National Selection: Izzy Sharp's White Ferns call up

North West Women’s Cricket Club was incredibly proud late last summer with the announcement that Izzy Sharp would be called into the White Ferns squad for the T20 series against Sri Lanka, with two of the matches played at Hagley Oval.

20 year old Sharp was called into the One Day squad as Lauren Downs was ruled out with a back injury – those fixtures were played on Friday 7th of March and Sunday 9th of March in Nelson.

Burnside West Christchurch Cricket Club recently had the opportunity to celebrate Jackson Latham’s 150th Premier grade appearance for the club with his blazer updated and presented by Matt Hay

Jackson joined the club in 2012 fresh out of Christs College and played a handful of games before heading south to study in Dunedin. Jackson moved back to Christchurch and re-joined BWCUCC in 2017.

Penrith win Poidevin Gray over arch rivals in 2000-01.

There was an air of expectation from those associated with the team last year that this season might produce something special. I can assure you that the expectations the team placed on themselves were far greater. To play in a semi-final series or contest, yet another final was not going to be good enough. Premiership victory was the only thing that was going to satisfy them. Sometimes self-imposed expectations or "pressure", as some experts call it, can have a detrimental effect on performance. On this occasion, not so. The rest is history.

St George First Grade Player No.86 - Percy Ford

Percy Ford began his career with St George as a 13-year-old teenager in the season of 1928-29 in our Poidevin Gray Shield side where he continued to play in that side until 1934-35.

He showed a great amount of potential as an allrounder.

Callum Hill: My Greatest XI

Callum Hill has worn many hats over his nine-year senior cricket journey. Hailing from Te Awamutu in country Waikato and schooled at Christchurch Boys High School down in Canterbury. His career began with the Melville Cricket Club in Hamilton where he was a junior and his father, Fraser, played 150 games.

Callum notched up over 90 First Grade appearances won two Premierships and represented both Hamilton and Waikato Valley in the Hawke Cup.
