Chris Drake reflects on playing at Chatswood Oval

Chris Drake came to Sydney having played with Sevenoaks Vine Club in Kent, England. While working for Ku-ring-gai Council he asked a workmate if he knew anyone in a local cricket club. That mate gave him the phone number of Harry Crow. Chris played First and Second Grade from 1968-69 through to 1978-79 as a punishing top order batsman and good slip fielder, scoring 137 in his last game for the club.

Penrith Cricket Club Presidents - 1973/74 - 1982/83

Darcy Smith was the inaugural President of the Nepean District Grade Club, a fitting reward for a man who devoted so much to the local game over so many years, as a player and an administrator. When the local cricket competition resumed after World War II, Darcy played with the Crescent Club, then Rovers, but joined Penrith RSL Cricket Club upon its formation in 1948, the start of a career lasting more than 20 years.

Isaac Earl – A Paceman in a Hurry

Isaac Earl, the Parramatta District Cricket Club’s First grade opening bowler is a young paceman in a hurry. He made the meteoric rise from A.W. Green Shield in 2020/21 to sharing the new ball in Parramatta’s Belvidere Cup winning team in 2024/25.

Tallish and of a slim, wiry build Isaac is a clever fast-medium bowler of pin-point accuracy who possesses the ability to regularly seam and move the new ball. He ‘persistently probes away’ pressuring opposing batsmen into a loose shot and the loss of their wickets.

Kurtis Patterson moves past some of the greats at St George

In scoring 119 not out on Saturday in The Saints Round 10 clash against Campbelltown Camden, Kurtis Patterson etched his name above some of the best in the clubs history.

The century is Patterson's 14th which sees him move ahead of 2 of Australia's greatest in Sir Donald Bradman and Arthur Morris who both scored 13 centuries in their time at St George. He now sits equal 5th on the list alongside Graeme Rummans and Brad McNamara.

Gordon District Cricket Club - 2003-4 A.W. GREEN SHIELD REPORT

We knew we were in for a dramatic season when, after seemingly winning the first match at Campbelltown (amidst great excitement as 1st Grade scored their maiden victory on the adjoining ground), the match was belatedly declared a tie on appeal some weeks later!

Undaunted, the team pressed on to cut a swathe through the rest of the competition to be unbeaten after the seven (7) preliminary rounds.

Ian Davis played with Gordon from the 1973-74 season until 1976-77. After two games for Gordon he was selected for New South Wales and five first-class games later, Australia. There was a tour to New Zealand in 1973-74 and the Australian tour to England in 1977. He scored 1065 runs at 35.50 and held the First Grade opening record at Gordon with James Cattlin, Cattlin (88) and Davis (170) of 261.

I arrived at Gordon in an unusual way. In fact my time at Gordon was the most enjoyable of my Grade career where I played for six clubs

Only a few years back, we named our top 50 players from our 50 years. Today, we look at #50, Jordan Silk, who is First Grade Cap #177.

Jordan Silk debuted for Penrith in 2006/07 and made his First Grade debut in 2008/09 as a 16-year-old, scoring 126 on debut against Blacktown and becoming, at the time, the youngest person to score a century on First Grade Debut.

Just over a week ago we celebrated the 99th anniversary of one of the most significant innings in the history of our club and cricket in general.

27 November is a significant day for Australian, NSW and most importantly St George cricket. It was on that date in 1926, that a young Don Bradman made his debut for St George. Walking to the crease with the score at 4/104, I’m certain no one in the crowd could have imagined the impact this young man would have on, not only that match, but cricket itself.
