Manly Warringah strong showing in the 1943-44 Green Shield season

During the 1943/44 Green Shield competition, Manly delivered a commendable performance, finishing third after an impressive period in which the club had held the Shield for two consecutive seasons. Although unable to secure a third straight title, the team maintained a high standard of play across both batting and bowling.

Manly’s batting unit proved productive throughout the season, compiling a total of 1,208 runs for the loss of 72 wickets, resulting in a team average of 16.77. In comparison, their opponents managed 1,092 runs but lost 109 wickets in the process, averaging just 10.00—an indication of Manly’s effectiveness with the ball.
