THE FINALS - A Grade v Easts-2, 28th March/11 April 1953
The greatest Final Waratahs ever played and possibly one of the best in the history of the New England CA/ADCA. Everything went wrong for Waratahs on the first day - a teamsheet mix up, run outs, dropped catches, a broken finger. Then it rained for four days before the second day and they had Don Paul.
It still goes wrong for Waratahs, for an engraving error years later meant that the Antill Cup - for A Grade MINOR Premiers, was confused with the Richardson Cup - for PREMIERS - and that error was never rectified, meaning the ADCA records Easts-1 as the Premiers in 1952-53 ... and they didn't even make the Final! The photo evidence makes it clear.
