On this day in 1976, A grade were runners up again, this time to St Peters, who won their first ever A grade Premiership. Brian Joice (6-76) and Terry Mackenzie bowled a heroic 49 overs between them but could not stop a David Mitchell century which had its share of luck and a Keith Smith masterclass. I reply, Duster Bower destroyed the top order and Mark McCann spun out most of the rest, as Waratahs were never in the hunt.
A -Res won their Premiership in a 10 wicket demolishing of Churches.
