THE SEMIS - A Grade v University 1967
Armidale Waratahs (The Tahs) | March 22, 2026

In the semi-final against University of 1966-67, Waratahs A grade went in with a 6-3 win record and the confidence of having thrashed both University sides during regular season play.
On a wet first day, where two and a half hours were lost, Waratahs fast bowling quartertet of Tom Cooke (#197), Peter Rigg (#201), Brian Roberts (#114) and Terry Mackenzie (#54) had the University batsmen under constant pressure and at stumps 7-81 was a true reflection of the play. Mackenzie finished with the best of the figures as University fared little better in the open phase of the second day.
Waratahs were wobbling at 2-17, with the wicket at Bellvue wet again but Greg Russell (#131) played strokes with confidence of youth despite the conditions, to add 44 with opener Bill Thompson (#185). The rest were all single figures, with Thompson's 66 - second last man out - making sure Waratahs qualified for the Final.
