ON THIS DAY - 4th March
Armidale Waratahs (The Tahs) | March 04, 2026

In 1967, TOM COOKE (#197) took 7-49 in the first day of the A grade Final against Minor Premiers Ex Services, skittling them for only 124.
K LUCAS (#210) got the bowlers hundred, taking 3-102 as University ran up a huge total in the A-Res grade semi-final.
In 1972, CLIFF SCHAEFFER (246) made the 50th Waratahs hundred, with his only visit to three figures, making 100 not out v Easts, after being 92 not out at the end of the first day. Scores are incomplete for the match but we do know that a very young Neil Baillie made 70 of Easts 159 in the first innings, with Waratahs Paul Bendeich (#239) taking 4-28. Both Waratahs first innings total and Easts second are unknown but there is a foreboding for Easts fortunes in knowing that Bendeich took 8-24, giving him 12-52 for the match.
In 1978, TONY SCANLON (#308) made his only Waratahs hundred, making 103 not out of 4-296 for A-Res grade v Centrals on the first day. The scores for the second day are unknown.
