Brothers Noorbergen

The Parramatta District Cricket Club is fortunate to have within its ranks two talented and highly promising brothers – Jay and Blake Noorbergen.
Both brothers are athletic, strong and gifted sportsmen. On the cricket field elder sibling Jay is a quality wicketkeeper/batsman who has shown definite leadership qualities, as evidenced by his selection several times, so early in his career, as a fill-in captain of the Club’s Second Grade team, whilst Blake has created excitement throughout the Parramatta Club as an outstanding, free-stroking batsman with the potential to ultimately rise to first-class cricket levels.
Jay was the first to arrive on the Parramatta landscape after coming through the club’s junior academy and progressing to A.W. Green Shield in 2019/20, where he exhibited clear flair as batsman (172 runs @ 21.50 (H.S. – 71) and competency as a gloveman (6 catches). This season also marked his entry into the NSW Premier Cricket ranks with a full season in Fifth grade learning the nuances of grade cricket (apart from a match in Fourth grade in which he didn’t bat but pulled off a fine stumping).
His ‘first up’ performances showed him to be a youngster with higher grade potential – solid stats backed this view – 172 runs @ 24.57 (H.S. – 57*) from the middle-order and 25 dismissals behind the stumps (23 ct / 2 st).
The 2020/21 season saw Jay ‘leap up’ the club’s grade ranks; after scoring a stylish 56 runs and snaring 2 catches in a solitary Third grade match he was elevated to Second grade where he spent the remainder of the season creating a fine impression with his sound wicketkeeping pocketing 19 dismissals (16 ct / 3 st). Like a lot of younger cricketers ‘learning their game’ the 2021/22 season saw him play a mixture of Second and Third grade games, whilst his batting (107 runs @ 9.27) still tended to play second-fiddle to his blossoming wicket keeping (26ct / 2 stumpings) – 5 ct v. Sydney.
2022/23 proved to be a landmark season for Jay and laid the foundations for his permanent residency in Second grade. At last, his latent batting talent surfaced, and he compiled a solid 263 runs @ 23.91 – highlighted by a standout 85 v. Bankstown, in which he shared a 7th wicket partnership of 170 runs with Jacob Workman. Behind the pegs his proficiency yielded 27 dismissals (24 ct / 3 st).
In the 2024/25 season he produced his best batting form to date compiling an impressive 381 runs @ 38.10 – highlighted by two splendid knocks:
· 117 v. Sydney [his first century] – combining with D. Vemulapalli to record a 5th wicket partnership of 176.
· 75 v. Northern Districts in the Qualifying Final.
Jay represented the Australian Under 22 Indoor Cricket Team in 2024 and captained that team in 2025. He is ripening into a fine keeper/batsman with a long fruitful career at Parramatta stretching before him. To mid-season 2025/26 his Parramatta District Cricket Club Statistics are:
From the onset of Blake’s three season stint in the A.W. Green Shield (2021/22 to 2023/24) – 774 runs @ 48.38 [placing him fourth on the all-time Parramatta A.W.G. run-getters list, former Test player Greg Matthews leads the way with 1,024 runs @ 64.00 – marked the younger Noorbergen brother as a natural cricketing talent who looks destined for an exciting career in the years ahead.
Batting in a power-laden, spontaneous and uncomplicated fashion is the pivotal element of his game, but he also brings an all-round component to the table via his sharp and alert fielding and handy part-time off-spin bowling.
After a glimpse of his budding prowess in his initial two A.W.G. seasons Blake exploded into action in 2023/24 blasting a competition best of 427 runs @ 85.40 (highlighted by a brilliant 145 v. Gordon, 87* v. Easts, 76* v. Manly, 56* v. Campbelltown) and captaining Parramatta to the Grand Final against Manly. These performances won Blake the honour of being chosen as the A.W. Green Shield Player of the Year.
Blake commenced his formal tilt at NSW Premier Cricket in 2022/23 in Fourth Grade and impressed immediately with his maturity, all-round proficiency and the ease in which he settled into this new senior cricketing environment. With the bat he struck 327 runs @ 36.33 (H.S. – 87 v. Sydney) and his off-spinners snared 15 wickets @ 21.07 (B.B. – 3/23 v. Sydney). He was also a member of the Parramatta A.W. Green Shield Premiership winning team and was recipient of the Parramatta club’s John Benaud (Rookie of the Year) Award.
The 203/24 season proved to be a monumental season for this rising young player he was outstanding with the bat:
· Blasting four centuries – 145 in A.W. Green Shield, 100 v. Campbelltown and 109* v. UNSW in Third Grade and on promotion to Second grade he struck a classy 101* v. Bankstown.
· Totalled a notable 602 runs @ 60.20 in NSW Premier Cricket (2nd grade – 152, 3rd grade – 450).
These performances established Blake’s credentials as one of the most promising young batsmen in Premier Cricket and saw him take out the Parramatta club’s much sort-after Cumberland Medal (joint winner with Michael Sullivan) plus the Sid Teale Award for being the club’s Most Improved Under 21 Player.
Blake also tasted representative selection in the NSW U17 Metro squad, U19 NSW All Schools team, A.W. Green Shield Merit team, and the 2024/25 U19 Metro Academy squad.
Excellent form in Second grade – 443 runs @ 49.22 (Best – 85 v. Bankstown, 74 v. Sydney University, 81 v. Penrith, 59 v. Blacktown) resulted in the budding batting ace debuting in First Grade and thereby becoming Parramatta District Club’s First Grade Player Number: 624.
The 2024/25 season witnessed Blake continue to advance his representative career with selection in the NSW All Schools Team and the NSW Metro U17 team, and in a nice touch he also made the Australian U22 Indoor team captained by his brother Jay. He also appeared for the NSW U19 Metro in 2025/26.
Another milestone in his career came in the 2025/26 season when he compiled his initial First grade century – 104 v. Manly. So far in this season Blake has amassed 339 runs @ 48.43 (1st grade 276, 2nd grade 63).
