UTS North Sydney Men's Team of 2025/26

UTS North Sydney District Cricket Club | May 17, 2026

At the club’s Presentation Night on 24 April, the UTS North Sydney Bears named their Men’s Grade Team of 2025/26, with medals presented to the those present by representatives of Principal Partner, People + Culture Strategies.

The team was calculated based on season stats in the main grade rounds, on a points per match basis with a minimum qualification of 8 matches.

Topping the list was Justin Avendano, who was also named the Bevyn White Cricketer of the Year later in proceedings, and also in the First Grade Team of the Year at the Cricket NSW Premier Cricket awards. In the Belvidere Cup season, Justin scored 748 runs at nearly 47 with three hundreds in the last four rounds to add to one before Christmas.

Justin is joined in the top order by a pair of new Bears who spent most of the season in Second Grade, Seb Linnitt and Aaryan Dixit. Seb joined us on the International Cricket Programme from Somerset in the UK and had a stellar season, top-scoring with 126 against Sutherland. Aaryan was promoted rapidly from 3s to 2s, where he enjoyed a lot of success including a ton against Fairfield-Liverpool, and he was rewarded with four appearances in First Grade. Aaryan’s 461 runs were supplemented with 10 wickets with his off-spin.

Three powerful First Graders make up the middle order: Jordan Netto, Mac Jenkins and Jamieson Hedges.

Jordan had a breakout season, making over 500 runs including five 50s and changing the tempo in our favour on several occasions with his calculated hitting. He also had a superb season behind the stumps, taking 26 catches and one stumping.

Mac had another consistent season as our sixth highest run-scorer and third highest wicket-taker with his canny left-arm spin, including a match-winning five-wicket haul against Sydney, as well as leading the side confidently and astutely to secure our eventual top ten finish. Jamieson led the seam bowling attack and took 25 wickets while also scoring over 400 runs for the first time, at an impressive strike rate. He made his career best score of 99 in the final round against Sydney University – one better surely on the cards for 2026/27.

In the lower middle order are Sam Bear and Akther Hussain.

Sam was another UK import who made quite an impression! Unfortunately, he didn’t get on the park as often as he’d have liked due to injury, but he showed his class with both bat and ball when he did, highlighted by a single-handed demolition of Fairfield-Liverpool with 3/18 off 6 overs and 83 off 47 balls. Akther also joined the club this season and contributed with both bat and ball in the middle grades, with a best performance of 5/35 against Wests in Fourth Grade.

Rounding out the eleven are Shiv Vohra, Liam Whitaker and Jaden Sequeira.

Shiv, our 4s skipper, had his best season yet in a Bears shirt, taking 31 wickets at an average of under 20 and topping the competition aggregate in the regular season. Shiv led his side into the Qualifying Finals thanks to a late-season surge in which he himself took back-to-back five-wicket hauls.

In Second Grade, Jaden and Liam were the two top wicket-takers with 29 and 26 respectively, and both earned First Grade debuts for the club, where they took their maiden poles – Liam against Fairfield-Liverpool and Jaden against Sutherland.
