Vale Sam Roberts

Mosman Cricket Club | June 06, 2026

Mosman Cricket Club is deeply saddened by the passing of one of our great club favourites, Sam Roberts.

Sam arrived at the Whales from Tasmania in 1995 and made an immediate impact quickly becoming a much-loved figure around the club. He made his 1st grade debut in the 1996-97 season as cap number 396 and went on to build an outstanding record, finishing with 243 1st Grade wickets and 3,420 1st Grade runs.

A fierce competitor and wonderful clubman, Sam captained our 2nd Grade Premiership side in 2003-04, was named Player of the Final in our 1st Grade Premiership One Day team in 2008-09 and was a four-time Noel Bergin Mdeal winner, taking out the Club Best and Fairest in 2003-04, 2004-05, 2009-10 and 20111-12.

Beyond the numbers and achievements, Sam will be remembered most for his infectious personality, his warmth, and the impact he had on everyone lucky enough to share a dressing room, a field or a conversation with him.

He was loved by his teammates, admired by the club and will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts are with Sam’s family, friends and all who knew him.

RIP Sam Roberts
