Danny Reynolds; 2006-07 Season

A product of the Manly district, Danny Reynolds was renowned as one of the hardest trainers during his time at Manly Warringah Cricket Club. Having developed through Cromer Cricket Club before representing Warringah Shires, the determined left-arm fast bowler arrived at Manly with plenty of promise. After several injury-interrupted seasons, Reynolds finally enjoyed the breakthrough campaign his dedication had long deserved in 2006/07.

Beginning the season in Third Grade, Reynolds made an immediate impact by claiming 5/23 against Western Suburbs at Grahams Reserve in Round 1. His outstanding form quickly earned him promotion to the Second Grade side under captain Mark McInness, where he continued his exceptional run of performances. Consecutive five-wicket hauls—5/36 against Bankstown in Round 8 and a superb 7/46 against Northern District in Round 9—firmly established him as one of the competition's most in-form bowlers and brought him into contention for First Grade selection.

His performances were rewarded with four First Grade appearances, where he demonstrated he belonged at the highest level. His best figures came in Round 13 against Blacktown, when he claimed 3/57 against quality opposition.

While recurring injuries unfortunately prevented Reynolds from building on his breakout season and ultimately curtailed what promised to be a successful First Grade career, his performances in 2006/07 remain a testament to his talent, resilience and commitment. At his best, Danny Reynolds proved he had both the ability and determination to compete at the highest level of Sydney Grade Cricket, making his breakthrough season one of the most memorable of his career.
