Rowan Hamman; 2013-14 Season with Manly Warringah District Cricket Club
Manly Warringah District Cricket Club | August 07, 2026

Rowan Hamman first joined Manly Warringah Cricket Club in the 2003/04 season after transferring from the UNSW Cricket Club, where he had established himself as a First Grade top-order batsman. During his initial stint at Manly, Rowan consistently performed in the club's higher grades as a dependable left-handed opening batter before eventually stepping away from the game.
A decade later, ahead of the 2013/14 season, Rowan was persuaded to make a comeback by close friend Warren Evans, captain of the Fourth Grade side. What followed was one of the most dominant lower-grade batting seasons in the club's recent history. Rowan amassed an outstanding 672 runs at an average of 61.09, demonstrating a level of class and experience well above the competition.
His season was in fact record breaking, setting a 4th grade aggregate record which still stands to this day. His teammates not only benefited from his performances but also from the opportunity to observe a seasoned First Grade cricketer apply his craft with professionalism and composure.
Rowan's remarkable season featured four centuries. He began with 116 against his former club, UNSW, in Round 1, followed by 108 against local rivals Mosman in Round 4. He added 104 against St George in Round 12 before producing one of the innings of the season—an unbeaten 113 in a tense semi-final victory over Sutherland that helped propel Manly into the Grand Final.
The Fourth Grade side enjoyed an exceptional campaign, ultimately finishing runners-up after narrowly losing a rain-affected Grand Final to Eastern Suburbs.
Following his outstanding comeback season, Rowan was appointed captain of the Second Grade side for the next two seasons. Under his leadership, the team reached the 2014/15 Grand Final, further cementing his contribution to the club. Beyond his playing career, Rowan has continued to serve Manly Warringah Cricket Club with distinction as a valued member of the club committee, where his experience and commitment continue to benefit the organisation.
