Simon Couch - A lifetime of contribution to Manly Warringah DCC

Manly Warringah District Cricket Club | May 16, 2026

Simon Couch has been a valued and enduring figure within his club, both on and off the field. After his final full season in 2003/04, he had delivered an impressive all-round performance over more than a decade at the club, accumulating 3,495 runs at an average of 28, including six centuries, while also claiming 144 wickets at the same average. Although that season marked the end of his full-time playing career, he has continued to contribute on occasion in the years since.

A versatile cricketer, Couch also took on wicketkeeping duties when required, demonstrating his adaptability and team-first approach. His leadership qualities were evident early, having captained the Manly Green Shield Premiership side in 1991/92. That team featured future club standouts, including Brian Clemow and Matt Cranney, further highlighting the strength of his cricketing environment and influence.

Couch’s connection with the club runs deep, having played across all grades during his career. His commitment has extended well beyond his playing days; he remains actively involved as the club’s chiropractor and plays a key role in coordinating pre-season fitness sessions. This ongoing contribution underscores his dedication to the development and wellbeing of players, as well as the broader success and culture of the club.
