Manly Warringah 2007/08 AW Green Shield
Manly Warringah District Cricket Club | April 04, 2026

The 2007/08 AW Green Shield team endured a challenging season on the field, recording two wins from their seven matches.
Despite the results, the side proved to be an important stepping stone for a number of talented young players who would go on to enjoy significant success in the competition in later years, including reaching the Green Shield Final in 2009/10, as well as building strong careers in grade cricket.
This is an aspect often overlooked with Green Shield. It should not always been seen as a tool for winning, but for player development and introduction to club loyalty.
The squad featured several players who would later become well-known figures within Manly Cricket, including captain Adam Gummer, Matt Mee, Matt Alexander, Mitchell Pugh, Jarrod Rawlings, Nick McLachlan, Javed Badyari, Sam Webber, Logan Weston and Ryan Farrell
Phil Hartig Frank, who later played grade cricket for both Manly and UNSW, finished the season as the team’s leading run-scorer.
Captain Adam Gummer led the bowling attack, finishing as the side’s leading wicket-taker with his deceptive left-arm orthodox spin.
The team was coached by former Australian Test cricketer and Manly legend Peter Philpott, alongside First Grade spinner Ryan Bulger. They were assisted by David Gainsford and Mick Pawley.
