Luke 'Bomber' Edgell
Manly Warringah District Cricket Club | December 29, 2025

Luke Edgell enjoyed an outstanding 2005/06 Poidevin Gray campaign, highlighted by a superb innings of 108 against Gordon at Manly Oval.
A highly decorated local junior from the Cromer Cricket Club, Luke attended Narrabeen Sports High School, where he was part of the school’s elite cricket program under the guidance of respected coaches David Patterson, Shawn Bradstreet, and Matthew Phelps.
That program also produced several future Manly cricketers, including Tim Cruickshank, Ryan Bonner, Ben King, and Justin Cox.
Luke captained his age group throughout the junior representative pathway and went on to skipper the Green Shield side during the 2002/03 season. The previous year, he featured in the Green Shield final at Manly Oval, where the Tahs were narrowly defeated by a strong Penrith team. Notable players in that match included Jackson Bird, Aiden Baker, and Penrith’s Ahillen Beadle, who would later become a Manly club legend.
A key figure at the grade club from the early 2000s through to the mid-2010s, Luke was a versatile and highly skilled all-rounder. He batted anywhere from positions one to seven and bowled left-arm medium pace. He represented Manly in First Grade for many seasons, playing an important role in the club’s First Grade T20 premiership in 2009/10, along with multiple club championship victories.
Across his career, Luke accumulated 4,622 runs and claimed 149 wickets for the club.
Following his cricket career, Luke has gone on to achieve significant success in amateur golf, winning a club championship at Long Reef, representing the club in Major Pennants, and qualifying for an Australian Amateur Championship.
