Ben Treloar: A Versatile All-Rounder Who Found His Path in Umpiring
Manly Warringah District Cricket Club | December 09, 2025

Arriving from the Shires competition, Ben made an immediate impression during his lone season with the Manly club in 2006–07. Though his stay was brief, his contributions were felt across multiple grades, showcasing both his batting ability and his skill as a leg-spin bowler.
Throughout the season, he demonstrated adaptability and consistency, registering half-centuries in Fourth, Third, and Second Grade—a rare achievement for a player new to the system. With the ball, his leg-spin proved effective at every level he played, collecting wickets in all grades and providing valuable breakthroughs whenever called upon. His efforts reflected a cricketer with natural talent, cricket smarts, and a competitive spirit that lifted the sides he represented.
Despite a promising season, he chose not to continue his playing career. Instead, he turned his passion for the game toward a different pathway—umpiring. It proved to be a decision that paid off. In the years since, he has built a reputation as a highly respected official, enjoying significant success and earning recognition for his professionalism, decision-making, and commitment to the sport. He has stood in multiple First Class and Big Bash matches as well as Women’s International Fixtures.
Though his time at the club as a player was short, his single season left a clear mark, and his achievements as an umpire highlight the many ways a love of cricket can flourish both on and off the field.
