Brian Clemow hits 287 not out

Manly Warringah District Cricket Club | November 26, 2025

At just 16 years of age, Brian Clemow delivered one of the most extraordinary performances in the history of Sydney Grade Cricket, compiling an unbeaten 287 for Manly against Bankstown at Jensen Oval during the 1992–93 season in 3rd Grade.

Over the course of 310 minutes and 85 overs, Clemow not only broke a long-standing Manly club record—surpassing a benchmark that had remained untouched since the 1897–98 season—but also set a new record for the highest ever not out score in Sydney Grade Cricket history.

His innings powered Manly to a commanding total of 4/440, which included a record fifth-wicket partnership of 190 runs with Peter Procopis (48*). Manly bowled five overs before rain washed out play the following Saturday.

Clemow’s remarkable form earned him selection in the New South Wales Under 17 team, where he continued to excel, registering scores of 206 and 96. He finished the national championships as the leading run-scorer and was named Player of the Tournament.

His outstanding performances led to his selection in the Australian Under 17 team.
