2017/18: Return to the Brewers

The 2017/18 season marked a significant milestone for the Manly Cricket Club, as it fielded an underage women’s team for the first time. Entering the Under 17 Brewer Shield competition, the team was young and largely inexperienced yet showed tremendous promise throughout the season.

Despite securing only one victory, the team remained competitive in every match, laying a strong foundation for what has since become a highly successful women’s program within the NSW Premier Cricket competition. The highlight of the season came in Round 8, when the team delivered a breakthrough performance to defeat the competition leaders, Campbelltown-Camden—an encouraging sign of their potential and growth.

Captain Robyn Medley led by example, finishing as the leading wicket-taker with 11 wickets at an average of 12.73. Genevieve O'Brien topped the run charts with 137 runs for the season, including a highest score of 40.

Several players from that squad have since become familiar names within the club. Sienna James, Jasmin Wilson, Nat Guyot, and Mia Waddington all played key roles during the season and gained invaluable experience.

Notably, newly appointed First Grade Captain Chelsea McLerie made her club debut during the season, appearing in one match.
