Penrith Cricket Club | April 14, 2026

What year were you born?
2008
Tell us about your cricket journey. Where did you start junior cricket and the clubs you’ve played for in senior cricket
I actually started in softball before cricket. At one stage, I played both. In softball I used to take the bat with me when I was running between bases, and then when I played cricket, I’d do the opposite and just drop the bat and run. At that point, I realised I should
probably commit to one sport, and that ended up being cricket!
I started out in the first girls’ team at Winston Hills, which was a really special place to begin. After that, I moved to West Pennant Hills, where I stayed for three years. I then joined representative cricket and played for Hornsby for four years, captaining the side in my last three seasons there. More recently, I moved to Penrith and have been playing in Brewer Shield, where I’ve also had the privilege of captaining for the last three seasons.
If you can share with our readers how you would describe yourself as a cricketer?
I’d say I’m an all-rounder, but this season my major focus has been on my bowling and fielding.
What do you enjoy most about playing cricket?
When I’m captaining, I really enjoy the strategy of the game, figuring out everyone’s strengths and how to use them best in a game. It’s similar to solving a complex puzzle! Definitely being part of a team is extremely enjoyable, and I love being part of a group and working towards something together, too.
What’s been your most memorable moment in cricket so far?
One of my most memorable moments would have to be making the Grand Final with Penrith this season. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the result we were hoping for, but it was still a really special experience.
What stood out most to me was how hard all the girls fought and how well everyone handled the pressure. Even though we fell short, I was so proud of the way we played, and the way we stuck together to ensure we put up a good game fit for a grand final. It
really showed how much the team had grown over the years and the result of a strong coaching team at Penrith. Being part of that progression for Brewer Shield at Penrith is something I’ll remember for a long time.

Who’s your favourite all-time cricketer?
My favourite would definitely be Ellyse Perry. It’s inspiring to see someone succeed at such a high level while still coming across as so humble, kind and genuine. I’ve always admired that she also played multiple sports including soccer, because I also played soccer and that’s something I relate to. She’s definitely someone I would see as a positive role model.
Who is the fastest bowler you’ve played against?
The fastest bowler I’ve faced would probably be Isabella Bradley-Labra. I’ve played with her in the past, and her pace is something to look out for. She’s also such a positive teammate, which makes playing alongside her really enjoyable and facing her in the nets quite fun.
Who is the best spinner you’ve played against?
The best spinner I’ve played against would probably be Juliette Morton. I faced her in some trials a couple of years back, and she was definitely someone who knew how to challenge a batter.
Who played the best innings you’ve seen firsthand playing with or against?
One innings that really stands out was during the 2024/25 season. In a game against the Southern Swans, Japleen Kaur scored 74 not out. After a lot of wickets had fallen around her, she kept pushing on and really anchored Penrith’s batting.
Who is the best wicket keeper you’ve had the good fortune to play with?
Annabel Batty. She’s such a reliable keeper, and even though I haven’t had the chance to play a lot with her, whenever I have, she’s been outstanding. She gives you a lot of confidence as a bowler because you know the ball is in very safe hands. She’s also a great leader on the field too, which makes a big difference to the team.
Is there a young player in your club you’d like to nominate as a player to watch?
Matilda Lett. She was the youngest player in Penrith’s Brewer team this season, and it was really rewarding and enjoyable play alongside her and to watch her grow in confidence. She’s a really impressive all-rounder for her age with a lot of talent and composure. I think she’s definitely a player to watch.
Who are the two players you’ve come to admire most in your club in terms of skills and competitive spirit?
One player I really admire is Samantha Arnold. She is a fantastic leader within the Penrith women’s squad. She’s approachable, competitive and generous with her time, and she leads by example. She’s the kind of captain and player who makes people around her feel supported, while being competitive and on top of the game.
Another player would be Karly Woods. She has so much energy on the field, no matter what’s happening, and her positive attitude instantly lifts everyone else. Playing alongside her is really motivating because her confidence brings out the best in the whole team.
What are the two attributes you like to see in a captain and leader?
Being well-grounded and approachable. I think a good captain stays composed under pressure and is someone the team feels comfortable talking to.
Which singer/band would you like to see perform live?
Without a doubt, the queen herself, Rihanna. I’m a massive Rihanna fan, so seeing her live would honestly be unreal.
Favourite location, city or country as a holiday destination?
I haven’t been there yet, but I’d love to go to Japan. It just seems like such an amazing place – the technology, the food, the culture, the atmosphere and everything about Japan interests me.
Who’s been the biggest influence on your career so far?
The biggest influence on my career so far would definitely be my mum. She’s been there for me from day one and has supported me through every part of my cricket journey. She’s the one who helped get me into cricket in the first place, including advocating for
the first girls team at Winston Hills so the girls had a clear pathway. Ever since then she’s always been by my side, driving me to training and games while juggling work, constantly supporting me, and always doing whatever she can to help me chase what I
love. I’m really grateful for everything she does, and I honestly wouldn’t be where I am without her.
Where do you find inspiration that gets you through challenging times?
A lot of my inspiration comes from my dad. He has a really positive mindset and always seems to know how to help me reset when things feel difficult. He reminds me to keep perspective, trust the process, and keep working hard, even when things aren’t going my way.
Who are the three people in the world you’d love to meet and talk to?
First would definitely be Rihanna, because I absolutely love her and I feel like she’d either give practical life advice and casually also be the coolest person ever. Then I would say Mary Fowler. I’ve always loved soccer, so I really admire what she’s doing for
the game and the way she carries herself as an athlete. If Spider-Man was real, I would totally love to meet him. I feel like he’d have some pretty interesting stories, and honestly, I’d just want to know how he manages everything with no sleep!
What do you like to do to relax outside cricket?
I like playing the drums and just jamming to my favourite songs. It’s a pretty good way to decompress, and I highly recommend it.
What do you do outside of cricket?
At the moment, I’m still finishing up my schooling.
Do you have a favourite quote?
Proverbs 11:2 – ‘When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom’.
What are your goals for the next season?
A big goal of mine is to keep improving my batting and become a stronger all-rounder. I’m also looking forward to continuing to develop my game and leadership stills at Penrith.
Can we ask, what would it mean to you to play first class cricket?
It would be a huge honor and a great reward for years of hard work and sacrifices, not just for myself but for everyone who’s supported me along the way. It would be really special to reach that level and show younger players to keep at it because it is all worth it in the end.
