Penrith Cricket Club | December 12, 2025

A Penrith Cricket Club Question and Answer with NatashaMartin

1. What year were you born?

2005

2. Tell us about your cricket journey.

I’ve been playing cricket since I was about 7. Started junior cricket with Glenbrook-Blaxland CC in under-8s in 2014, playing with my younger brother and Annabel (AB). Then joined reps cricket with Penrith in 2017/18 in the Mollie Dive Competition, and was 13 when I began playing Brewer Shield (2018/19) and also was involved in NSW Academy pathways. I have played for Penrith since, working my way through the grades, making my First Grade debut in 2022/23.

3. If you can share with our readers how you would describe yourself as a cricketer?

I’m a medium-pace right-arm bowler and a lower-order batter.

4. What do you enjoy most about playing cricket?

I enjoy the social aspect of it. I love playing out on the field with the girls and our training sessions in the week. Cricket has truly provided some of my best friendships over the years. Also, I love the contest when playing out in the middle – the challenge between the teams is amazing. And I love chatting about absolute nonsense!

5. What’s been your most memorable moment in cricket so far?

Honestly, I have had so many memorable moments over the years, but winning the U15 Brewer Shield (‘Baby Brewer’) Premiership undefeated in 2019/20 was pretty cool. Taking 3 5-fas in one season was amazing too.

6. Who’s your favourite all-time cricketer?

My favourite cricketers are Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon and Ellyse Perry.

7. Who is the fastest bowler you’ve played against?

The fastest bowling I’ve faced is probably Emma Hughes.

8. Who played the best innings you’ve seen firsthand, playing with or against?

In the first T20 round this season, AB scored a ton against Parramatta – truly in awe. It was amazing to watch!

9. Who is the best wicket keeper you’ve had the good fortune to play with?

Kate Pelle and Ella Tilburg

10. Is there a young player in your club you’d like to nominate as a player to watch?

Matilda Lett has to be one to watch. She has a rocket arm, amazing in the field and quality bowling too!

11. Who are the two players you’ve come to admire most in your club in terms of skills and competitive spirit?

Elise Noble and Sam Arnold – they really lead the club in the best way and have been a true inspiration to me in my career at Penrith.

12. What are the two attributes you like to see in a captain and a leader?

I think communication and resilience are the main qualities I like to see in captains, as they are important for understanding and connection, as well as success!

13. Which singer/band would you like to see perform live?

I would have loved to see Fleetwood Mac or ABBA perform live in their time. But now I’d love to see Pitbull, Tate McRae or Sabrina Carpenter.

14. Favourite location, city or country as a holiday destination?

I really love anywhere with mountains or beaches. I'm keen to go to Europe, though, especially the Greek islands and Italy.

15. Who’s been the biggest influence on your career so far?

The biggest influence would have to be my coaches throughout the years, but especially Grossey (Paul Grosse) and Geebs (Glenn Bradley-Labra). They have had to put up with me for so many years now, and they are amazing coaches – always helping us to keep our heads high and work hard.

16. Where do you find inspiration that gets you through challenging times?

My family and friends. They have always been there for me and will always lend an ear and their advice. They help me push through the hard times, put it all into perspective and keep me grounded.

17. Who are the three people in the world you’d love to meet and talk to?

Adam Sandler, Simone Biles, and David Attenborough

18. What do you like to do to relax outside of cricket?

I like to spend time with friends, running, hiking, going to the beach; anything to keep me busy, really.

19. If working, what do you do and name of business (we will give them a plug), if at Uni, what are you studying?

I'm currently studying Exercise and Sport Science at ACU, where I just finished my 2nd year, and I work in before and after school care at Emu Plains PS.

20. Do you have a favourite quote?

‘A day without laughter is a day wasted’ – Tigger from Winnie the Pooh

21. What are your goals for the next season?

I would love to just keep growing as a cricketer and, of course, take wickets. But really, I just want to play the game I love alongside my best friends.

22. Can we ask, what would it mean to you to play first-class cricket?

Ever since I began playing cricket, the dream was to play at a professional level, as it would be for most other people. It would be an incredible opportunity and a dream come true!
