Penrith Cricket Club thanks Marilyn Poulter: 2009-2010

Penrith Cricket Club | September 01, 2025

Clubs are built on the unselfish devotion of their volunteers. The end of this past season saw the retirement of one of the Summer Panthers' great servants in Marilyn Poulter.

Marilyn came forward in a time of great need for our club, and while she intended to take on the role of First Grade scorer for just a short time to help out, she remained one of the constants in a period of great personnel change.

During her 13 seasons with Penrith, Marilyn scored for the First Grade, Green Shield and Poidevin Gray and had the honour of scoring for a variety of representative games, including Second Eleven, Under 19s, and State Cup matches. In all, she has scored somewhere in the vicinity of 340 games for Penrith. Her score sheets were always neat, tidy & colour-coded....a delight to decipher.

Brought to you by Panthers Penrith

Always positive and passionate about the Club's fortunes, no one hurt more after the First Grade team was beaten in that momentous Final against Sydney University. She celebrated long and hard following the One-day Premiership and had every right to do so.

Elected Club Person of the Year in 2001/2002, Marilyn accepted that honour with great Humility and pride.

With the advent of high technology/computer scoring, etc, those who form part of the tradition of our game can be taken for granted. The hole that Marilyn will leave will indeed be hard to fill as her longstanding faithfulness to commitment & accuracy in scoring is not something that comes easy to the younger generation of the "noughties".

When people like Marilyn retire from the game, a little bit more of tradition is lost with them, and in the long run, our great game is poorer. Thank you, Marilyn, for the years of wonderful service. You are greatly appreciated and Penrith Cricket Club is less for your retirement, but much richer for you having been such an integral part of our club.

From 2009/10
