452 First Grade wickets for Gordon District Cricket Club. Who am I?
Gordon District Cricket Club | July 08, 2026

I am a premier-grade cricketer who tormented Sydney’s best batsmen for 14 seasons, spanning from 1946 to 1960.I was a vital cog in an iconic, star-studded local lineup that claimed the ultimate glory—the 1947–48 First Grade Premiership. By the time I finally hung up my boots, I had captured 452 First Grade wickets at an elite average of 20.91. I still sit proudly as the 3rd highest wicket-taker in the entire history of my beloved club, trailing only the great Dick Guy and the legendary Australian Test master, Charlie Macartney. Despite my local dominance, I never played first-class cricket.
Today, if you search my surname online, you will find page after page of a modern Australian NBA basketball star—but long before he was casting spells on the hardwood, I was casting them on the turf of Chatswood Oval.
