Gordon District Cricket Club | March 09, 2026

*A story on the Gordon website in 2007.
Beau joins list of great players including Charlie Macartney and Victor Trumper.
In what only can be called a meteoric rise to Test cricket Gordon's Beau Casson has been selected for Australia in the third test against the West Indies.
For those follow this website, you while know how we have promoted the ability of Beau for the last two seasons, including earlier this year when every spinner in Australia was being nominated for the West Indies tour other than Beau and this great achievement has been warmly welcomed amongst Gordon players, officials and supporters alike.
For those who don't know Beau he is one of the most unassuming young men who has taken every opportunity to support the club with coaching and mentoring and his achievement is richly deserved.
He has come through injury and health scares that was dampen the enthusiasm of most players, yet he has always remained positive and like when told by Stuart MacGill of his retirement the first thing he said was 'are you sure you don' t want to change your mind' In other words he was thinking of his teammate and not himself.
For the record Beau now becomes the 12th player to reach Australian Test status while playing for Gordon. Three players Matt Nicholson, Adam Gilchrist and Ken Eastwood played for Australia after playing for Gordon and Frank Iredale, Morrie Sievers, Sid Barnes and Graeme Watson played before playing with Gordon.
Beau certainly is among elite company with players like Charlie Macartney, Victor Trumper and Neil Harvey playing for the club during their Test careers.
While there were many other Gordon cricketers who played for Australia before coming to Gordon as well as after playing at Gordon, ,the full list of 12 players to play a Test while playing for Gordon is shown below: (in order of appearance)
· Charles Macartney
· Victor Trumper
· Johnny Taylor
· Charles Kelleway
· Bert Oldfield
· Ray Robinson
· Neil Harvey
· Brian Taber
· Ian Davis
· Trevor Chappell
· Phil Emery
· Beau Casson
I am sure also Matt Nicholson is sitting in Surrey right now being very proud of Beau as he has played a significant part in guiding his career.
The Gordon Club and all of its supporters wish Beau all the best for his debut. There will no doubt be some early mornings for us all.
