Women's Cricket Comes to the Gordon DCC - Part 3 (final)
Gordon District Cricket Club | January 23, 2026

As well as Price and Annetts the selectors saw fit to include Sally Moffatt, Sally Griffiths and Michelle Stenning in NSW teams. With many young women finding the club, junior teams were formed. The quality of the players was high meaning some of the girls were selected in junior representative teams. Jo Watts, Angela Burroughs and Monika Brogan wore the NSW blue cap for the first time.
Trevor Chappell was appointed Club Coach in the early 1990s with success on the field winning the Club Championship in the 1993-94 season and the following three seasons. Gordon continued to be strong, including off the field in leadership with Jessica Henry, President and Haren Sthalekar, Patron driving the administration and obtaining sponsorship from Chatswood RSL. There was certainly much for the club to be encouraged by with Kris Britt, originally from Adelaide, the Blackwell twins Alex and Kate, Charlotte Anneveld, Shannon Cunneen and of course Lisa Sthalekar gaining selection for New South Wales and Australia. Having such players involved with the club certainly kept up enthusiasm and encouraged more junior players to join. The club’s long-term sponsor, Chatswood RSL, was certainly happy.
While it has not always been easy, the club has continued to grow and prosper under the guidance of Jessica Henry and now Beny Chun. Sporting clubs need players and administrators who are involved over a long period to add stability and strength to the club. Jessica Henry is certainly a standout as an administrator.
Of recent years Hannah Trollip has certainly left a mark as a player and leader. There have been the personal successes, runs, representative selections and acknowledgement by her peers as ‘Women’s Player of the Year’. The club has a strong participation base across all age groups. It has always been a respected club in the Sydney competition for its fair play and friendship. May it flourish for many years to come.
