Established in 1888, Stockton & Northern Districts is one of the premier cricket clubs in Newcastle and Country NSW. Based at the picturesque Lynn Oval with magnificent facilities, the club has a long and proud history of success.

Q: Stockton & Northern Districts Cricket Club is pleased to announce that David Redden has been awarded Life Membership at our annual presentation dinner Queens Wharf Hotel on Saturday evening.

It is hard to put in to words what David has done for Stockton & Northern Districts Cricket Club.

David was introduced to the club by former Seagull Trent Colley and ever since David has filled the role of 1st Grade Manager along with a variety of other roles within the club. As anyone who knows David will know, the work he gets through and selflessness he shows is nothing short of extraordinary.

David has been a constant pillar of strength through the ups and downs. Always a great sounding board, a voice of reason, a shoulder to cry on and a friend to everyone that crossed his path. His ability to build relationships is remarkable and he is widely respected and loved not only within our club but also within the Newcastle and Country Cricket community.

In addition to his roles with our club, David has been a magnificent ambassador for our club as long serving manager of Newcastle Colts and Senior Representative teams and the NSW Bush Blues. David was also recently awarded Life Membership of Country Cricket NSW.

It would be remiss not to mention the contribution of David's wife Merrillie, who has supported his commitment to the club. Thank you Merrillie!

We are immensely proud to honour David Redden with Life Membership of our club. A seagull for life!

Q: Vale Robert Allan

Stockton & Northern Districts Cricket Club are deeply saddened by the passing of Life Member Robert Allen.

Robbie was a not only a long time player and committee member but a lifelong supporter of the club.

Robbie held the role of treasurer during arguably one of the clubs most successful periods in the 1970s and 1980s.

We pass on our deepest condolences to Robbie's wife Kris and the family and friends.

Name: Tyrone Weekes

What year were you born? 1970

Can you remember your first game of cricket? My first game of cricket was for Bellbird Primary School. I was only in 4th class and was shitting myself that I wouldn’t make the side

Tell us briefly about your cricketing journey? I started out at Bellbird Primary School and made the NSW Primary School team to play in South Australia in the National Carnival. I played my junior cricket in Cessnock and the played NSW Country Under 16s and 17s. I played 1st Grade in the Newcastle competition and also represented the Newcastle representative team as well as going on two tours of England in 1989 and 1991

This honour could not go do someone more deserving after his tireless work and selfless contribution to cricket in country NSW over many years.

Q: David Redden joined Stockton & Northern Districts Cricket Club in 2014-15 and and quickly became an integral part of not only the Stockton & Northern Districts Club but also Newcastle Cricket. It is safe to say that David has a love for cricket and in particular grassroots and country cricket that is hard to match.

David has been involved in cricket for many years but this Q&A does not do justice to the impact he has had on the many people, teams and organisations he has been part of. Throughout the Q&A, David was typical modest and reluctantly gave insights into his life in cricket. He has not only achieved an enormous amount but tellingly he has helped countless others achieve their goals and success. A friend to many, his commitment, passion and professionalism rubs off on those around him. David Redden typifies what is great about our sport and is truly one of a kind!

Q: Mark Kelaher had a much travelled cricket journey that took him from the Far South Coast of New South Wales, to Sydney, the North of England, Scotland, Newcastle and the Gold Coast.

A talented all-rounder who is NSW Country Cricket player number 31.

Mark played for Petersham Marrickville in Sydney and when he joined Stockton & Northern Districts Cricket Club he was the catalyst and arranged the first annual pre-season weekend when Petersham (now Randwick Petersham) travelled to Newcastle to play Stockton & Northern Districts. The tradition has continued since 1988.

Q: Dear Cricket Friends,

We are reaching out to you with heavy hearts following the passing of Kate Nicolai after a battle with cancer at the young age of 32, leaving behind her loving husband Andrew and their children Isabella (10) and Cooper (8).

Kate passed away on Saturday 22 July 2023..

As we gather to mourn this profound loss, we recognize that in addition to the emotional toll, there are practical challenges that lie ahead for the family.

Kate’s husband Andrew has been a member of Stockton & Northern District Cricket Club in Newcastle for the past 5 years and previously played for Toronto Cricket Club for many years.
