Q: Female Coaching Announcement
We are thrilled to introduce Sammy Curtis as the Women’s Director of Coaching for Season 2024/25 and beyond at Wynnum Manly District Cricket Club!
A number of you will know Sammy from his work at Queensland Cricket as the State Infrastructure Manager or more recently as National Cricket Centre Facilities Lead at Cricket Australia, but Sammy has a much deeper cricket history than that.
Sammy played 17 seasons of Provincial Cricket in New Zealand for Wairarapa, captaining and representing the Central Stags District A team.
Sammy was the Cricket Development Coordinator for Central Districts Cricket Association in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand before moving to Queensland ten years ago.
In 2019 Sammy joined Coolum Cricket Club as player/coach in Coolum’s inaugural Division 1 season captaining the side in his last two seasons.
He also captained the Queensland Veterans Over 40s Gold Division 1 side at the National Championships in November last year.
Sammy will take on the Women’s Director of Coaching role for the Sea Eagles which will encompass not only coaching our Women’s First Grade side but further developing a female cricket program in its entirety across Women’s Second Grade, Rebecca McCoombes Cup, youth and junior programs.
With Sammy's expertise and passion for the game, we're looking forward to taking our female cricket program to new heights.
Welcome aboard, Sammy! 🎉

Q: A powerful batsman, particularly off the back foot, Justin Poole had the ability to take the game away from the opposition in a short period. Teammate Adam Dale recalls a highly skilled and talented cricketer, a batsman who was adept anywhere in the order, excellent fielder and handy bowler. A very good team man who could dominate a game and did so over many seasons and a key player when Wynnum Manly District Cricket Club won the 1995/96 first grade premiership.

At the completion of the 2023-24 season Justin is the leading run scorer in the rich history of Wynnum Manly District Cricket club with 11,707 runs. Justin has scored 7,603 runs in first grade.
